Importance of Real Friends During the Pandemic

The importance of friends

During the pandemic quarantine, it became evident the significant importance that friendship plays in our lives. Forced to stay separated from most of the people we cherish, we finally understood how important it is to spend time with our loved ones.

In the past, we probably used to think that we could make time for it in the future. Well, right now, we can’t be so sure. Let’s do it today, even if it’s just on the phone. Schedule an online meeting with your close friends because you have good reasons to. Even your health will benefit from that:

Friends can help you celebrate good times and provide support during bad times. Friends prevent loneliness and give you a chance to offer needed companionship, too. Friends can also:

1 Increase your sense of belonging and purpose;

2 Boost your happiness and reduce your stress;

3 Improve your self-confidence and self-worth;

4 Help you cope with traumas, such as divorce, serious illness (like lupus), job loss, or the death of a loved one;

5 Encourage you to change or avoid unhealthy lifestyle habits, such as excessive drinking or lack of exercise;

6 Friends also play a significant role in promoting your overall health.

Adults with strong social support have a reduced risk of many significant health problems, including depression, high blood pressure, and an unhealthy body mass index (BMI).

Studies have even found that older adults with a rich social life are likely to live longer than their peers with fewer connections.

What are you waiting to call your friends?
